(32) Re-reading a poem by William Blake

重讀William Blake 一詩有感而作五律

20181216日于草坪老廬

短暫何需患  覓路燈
沙中藏世界  掌上握常
百代無虛席  千秋有實憑
風流今日數  莫怕霸王争

O' the transience of life!
Why despair?
In dim moonlight,
Seek a lamppost to take care,
And to see the world in a grain of sand,
And to hold infinity in the palm of one's hand.
'Tis the case for over a hundred generations.
For, facts stand up to examinations.
Let's see who will scale the height,
Overcoming all
hegemonies in sight.

William Blake
"Auguries of Innocence"

To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour.
............
The strongest poison ever known
Came from Caesar's laurel crown,
Nought can deform the human race
Like to the armour's iron brace.
